First Friday Event

Featuring the Etched Glass of Val Lord February 5, 5-8 pm

webbirch trees hi-ballVal Lord designs unique etched glass pieces in her Seattle studio.  She is shipping up a variety of pieces for this First Friday event so be sure to come by and see what is available.  You might even catch a Ninja, who knows!  Most of Val’s designs are inspired by nature but fanciful does have its place. Val uses high ball, pint and stemless champagne glasses made in the USA for her etchings.  They are easy to handle and fun to share.

We will also kick off our Fabulous February Pen Sale at this First Friday event.  We will feature deep discounts on selected pens, so come early while the selection is best.  Refreshments and a door prize drawing round out the evening.

Our annual winter sale allows you to stock up on holiday treasures.  40% off holiday merchandise, speciality foods, and a few of our favorite things.  We have just a few retired pieces of Vera Bradley at 40% off.  The remaining stock of Vera Bradley Frill is 25% off.  We’re open 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday.  Shop early for the best selection.

Open Late ‘Till 8

Friday December 11, 6-8pm

Join us this Friday for holiday shopping.  We’re open late until 8 pm with Charlie Hunt and Nancy Bayer joining us from 6 to 8 pm playing mandolin and keyboard.  Their lively contra dance music will put you in the holiday spirit!  We’ll have a door prize drawing as well.

Annual Candlelight Shopping Friday December 4, 5-8 pm

 First Friday 09Join us for our signature candlelight shopping event on First Friday!  At 5:00 we turn off the florescent lights and light hundreds of candles which bring holiday cheer, sparkle, and shine to your shopping experience.  The ambiance is perfect for choosing the perfect holiday gifts, sipping cider and chatting with friends.   Brayana Jeannet will perform on Classical Harp from 5 to 6:30, and Rebecca Morse will play traditional carols and tunes on antique pump organs from 6:30 to 8.  Remember to sign up for our First Friday drawing.

Holiday Open House

Saturday November 14th, 10am to 6pm

You are cordially invited to our annual Holiday Open House which 2009HolidayCollection1 introduces our 2009 holiday collection.  A fine selection of items for Thanksgiving and holiday gift giving awaits you.  Sip spiced cider as you are awed by the lights, shimmer and sparkle!  We’ll have samples from our Specialty Food Selection and a drawing for a door prize.

Pauline Lian, Guest Artist plus Betsy Balch Trunk Show Friday November 6 5-8 pm

 iceworm1109Join us for a very special First Friday as we feature two talented women.  Pauline Lian will be with us as our guest artist.  She’ll have her flower presses with her as well as limited edition and one-of-a-kind pressed botanicals.  So be sure to come by to see what’s new for fall and winter from her Iceworm Studio.

A trunk show will kick off our seasonal collection of designs by Betsy Balch.  She’s sending up a wonderful array of scarves in luxurious colors and fabrics from her studio botanical-instincts-espresso-on-willow1 in Washington specifically for this event.  Our staff will model her wearable art throughout  the evening, so don’t miss this opportunity to choose your special wrap for the winter from this show!  Refreshments will feature foods from our 2009 Specialty Food Selection, and we’ll have a door prize drawing.

Specialty Foods Introduction Friday October 2, 5-8 pm

An If Only…Signature Event!  A delectable offering of specialty foods will a-perfect-pear-2009be introduced at our October First Friday event.  We search far and wide for food prepared in small quantities with the finest ingredients for each season’s speciality food selection.  2009 is the best ever!  From soups and dips to olive oils, zesty crackers, tapenade, and dried fruits and jams, we have the makings for your entertaining and gift giving needs this season.  Staff will be available to explain products, and we will have samples to taste.  As usual, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a door prize drawing.

A Handcrafted Jewelry Trunk Show featuring Anchorage artists Annie Ciszak of Annie’s Arts & Follies and Lena Kilic, designer of One World Designs.  Meet the artists as they showcase one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and designs available in Fairbanks only at this event.

SugarBoo Designs Friday August 7, 5-8 pm

 you-are-the-poemJoin us on August 7 as we feature selections from the Photobox Collection of Rebecca and Rick Puig.  Rebecca and Rick build these boxes in their Roswell Georgia studio, SugarBoo Designs.  Sepia tones, crisp black, or muted shades of color set the stage for personal photos centered on inspirational love-is-patient quotations.  We will have a fabulous selection from which to choose; these boxes are wonderful wedding, birthday, anniversary or baby gifts.  Custom orders are also welcomed.

"Surroundings" Friday July 3, 5 to 8 p.m.

 surroundings-first-friday-photoThis very special event features Fairbanks guest artists Peggy Shumaker, Melina Draper, Frank Soos and Margo Klass.  Come hear the writers read selections from their works. Margo Klass will talk about her artisitic experience and introduce several of her gallery pieces which are brand new to the Fairbanks community.  Books will be available for purchase and signings, and the artists will be available for informal discussion.  As usual, we’ll have refreshments and a door prize drawing.

Peggy Shumaker’s latest book is a memoir, Just Breathe Normally.  Melina Draper collaborated with her mother on Place of Origin, a tidy volume of poetry which merges mother and daughter talents across long distances.  Frank Soos and Margo Klass collaborated on their latest venture, Double Moon.  The book features artwork and narrative profound and imaginative.
