Celebrating Handmade Books November 3rd, 5-8 pm

3E0FD4BD-3A32-46F2-A887-84D1104C8B5FJoin us First Friday for our annual celebration of books handmade by members of the Northwoods Book Arts Guild.  Books will be on display and for purchase.  From 5:30 to 6:15 Susan Campbell will demonstrate Japanese Binding; from 6:15 to 7, Linda Adamson will demonstrate Meditative Drawing, and from 7 to 7:45  Mary Baarbaer Maisch will demonstrate Art Journals.

Bandhani--A Time Honored Tradition

The Khatri Brothers ScarvesJoin us First Friday as we bring you a collection of silk scarves crafted by The Khatri Brothers of western India and curated from the International Folk Art Market.  Abduljabbar and Abdullah Khatri use vegetable dyes in their work, thus involving their friends and community members in their process of making art.  They’ve received the UNESCO Award of Excellence for their work.  Sign up for a door prize and enjoy refreshments as we herald in September in Interior Alaska.

MJ Collage1You’re invited to a very special trunk show.  Meet Meg B. Jones of Water’s Edge Studio in Eugene, Oregon.  A metalsmith working in silver, copper and beads, her designs are inspired by Alaska.  Meg will be here for First Friday as well as from noon to 4 on Saturday for those of you who can’t make it by on Friday evening.  We’ll be serving refreshments and have a door prize drawing on Friday evening.
