Join us as we debut handcrafted jewelry from several new Alaskan artists in addition to showcasing new pieces from several of our favorites such as Converging Traditions, Judie Gumm and Catherine Joan Petersen. We have new several styles which will appeal to men. We’ll serve refreshements and you’ll have an opportunity to sign up for a door prize drawing.

You are cordially invited to attend our annual First Friday event with guest artist, Pauline Lian. Pauline will bring a number of one-of-a-kind and special editions, both matted and framed with her. She’ll also have her flower presses and tools and will talk with you about her process. We’ll be serving food samples from our Specialty Food Collection for 2011, plus there’ll be the usual door prize drawing.

Jill Marshall of Marshall Arts Designs will be our guest artist. Jill is the designer of Alaska Wild Women cards and Alaska themed holiday cards. Jill will have all her card lines plus some brand new bookmarks with her for First Friday. Come by and visit with her. She’ll be taking suggestions for the next series of Wild Women cards, and we’re happy to be able to offer our First Friday attendees the opportunity to share their ideas with Jill. We’ll have refreshments and a door prize drawing.

Join us for our annual Made in Alaska event. First Friday allows us to showcase our 2011 Collection of products created by our friends and neighbors. From Judie Gumm jewelry to Leola Rutherford’s pottery, from Sarah Holm’s cheese trays to Arnold Geiger’s halibut cutting boards, we chose finely crafted, practical and artful pieces to share with locals and visitors alike. Eric Muehling, creator of the Denali DVD, will be here to demonstrate and provide the opportunity for you to interact with this great new resource. Plus, Judie Gumm will debut several custom pieces in honor of Made in Alaska and the introduction of her jewelry line at the store.

Join us First Friday as we feature the work of ceramic artist Leola Rutherford of Girdwood. Her one-of-a-kind Mud Banks are functional as banks and are adoptable and adorable monsters as well. We also have large bowls, salmon platters, salmon yarn bowls which are a knitter’s delight, moose spoon rests, and brown sugar keepers. Refreshments and a door prize drawing.
