Celebrating Handmade Books November 3rd, 5-8 pm

3E0FD4BD-3A32-46F2-A887-84D1104C8B5FJoin us First Friday for our annual celebration of books handmade by members of the Northwoods Book Arts Guild.  Books will be on display and for purchase.  From 5:30 to 6:15 Susan Campbell will demonstrate Japanese Binding; from 6:15 to 7, Linda Adamson will demonstrate Meditative Drawing, and from 7 to 7:45  Mary Baarbaer Maisch will demonstrate Art Journals.

Summer Cabin Orig OrnJoin us First Friday as we feature handcrafted American made products and live jazz guitar performed by Lindy Raines.  Shop our wide selection of products that represent the work of designers and craftspeople from all over the country who take care in their creation of beautiful, functional items of quality.  Take a little time to listen to the music, visit with friends and enjoy some ice cream.

Geisler Shave Kit 4Join us First Friday and meet guest artist, Ben Geisler, Leather Maker of Fairbanks.  He’ll have shave kits, luggage tags, and bear bells perfect for Father’s Day gifts.  We will also showcase our 2017 Made in Alaska, You Bet! collection so you get a sneak peek before your friends and family come to visit this summer.  Check out wooden models, hand painted votive holders, etched glass, handcrafted jewelry and much more.

Bring on Spring! April 7th, 5-8 pm

IMG_3860Join us as we feature the work of decorative artist Josephine Moussette Rice from Anchor Point, Alaska.  We have a wide selection of hand painted Alaskan wild flowers on votive holders and ornaments.  This a a wonderful opportunity to get a sneak peek at Made in Alaska products offered for the summer season.  Rice’s colorful artistry will enhance your April!  Refreshments and a door prize drawing.

Girard Studio Fine Art Prints

IMG_4203Fine art wood blocks feature Alaskan birds and animals, from the majestic moose to the flitting chickadee, bohemian waxwing, and ubiquitous raven.  Francois Girard moved to Alaska in 1993.  He began to paint the birds and animals around him and now shares these wood blocks with us.

Celebrating Handmade Books 1Join us First Friday as we feature work by members of the Northwoods Book Arts Guild. Guild members will provide demonstrations of book binding techniques throughout the evening. All featured work will be available for purchase. We are pleased to offer the guild an opportunity to showcase their fine work and introduce the larger Fairbanks community to book arts. Refreshments and a door prize drawing.

Handcrafted Fiber for Fall, September 4th, 5-8 pm

IMG_3089Join us for the introduction of our 2015 Fall Fiber Collection. This collection is curated with a large variety of choices specifically for our Fairbanks customers. From handpainted silk scarves from Wasilla to one-of-a-kind wool felted on silk scarves from a family owned cooperative in Kyrgyzstan, we have choices for every occasion. The fall selection of Asian Eye scarves is here as well as winterwear accessories handknit by Peruvian artisans in alpaca and other wools. Warm up to the season and get a head start on winter!

Celebrating Handmade Books 1 Join us for a very special First Friday. Celebrating Handmade Books features works by members of the Northwoods Book Arts Guild. Members demonstrating binding stitches beginning at 5pm include Susan Campbell, Mary Maisch, Margo Klass and Laurel Herbeck. Come by and learn the difference between Coptic, Long Stitch, and other bindings. Handmade books will be on display and available for purchase. Other guild members whose books will be featured include Corlis Taylor, Linda Adamson, Connie Stricks, Sue Cole, and Oralee Nudson. Refreshments and a door prize drawing.
