My name is Martha; I stand in front of If Only…a fine store during the hours the store is open.  A whopping amount of time and design go into my holiday attire each season, and I look forward to winter with zest.  This year I’m celebrating all things recycled, Martha Redux.  Not that I don’t often do that—many of my outfits are used a bit.  My city cape came from a consignment boutique in NYC.  I’ve worn it for several seasons, and it is no worse for wear.  No tellin’ how long it has been around.  My dress this holiday season is made completely from packing material.  Yes, that’s right.  The foundation layer is soft and gentle to the skin, a material often used in the packing of journals or ceramic switch plates.  My LED Christmas lights are easy on the electric bill and provide a great back light for my dress, which is made entirely from bubble wrap.  (When I’m lit during the low light of December, you can see me when you are comin’ down the street!)  We recycle  all our packing materials here at the store, so it’s great to show you one of the many uses of bubble wrap.  In our nearly 14 years of business, we have never purchased bubble wrap; we’ve always had enough recyclable to use for wrapping and packing.   We recycle thousands of pounds of cardboard and paper and are thankful for the Fairbanks Rescue Mission and Alaska Waste Recycling for their drop off sites.  They make recycling convenient; imagine all the exercise we get loading and unloading cardboard!  And imagine all the pounds of waste that are being kept out of the landfill.  Oh, we were talking about my dress!  My dress is accessorized with inexpensive holiday ornaments and gold tinsel.  Just the right amount of glitz, I’d say!  I love being fancy.  I’ve been called Martha Gaga this season.  I take that as a compliment!

Totally Chic.  Totally Eco.  Gotta love it,Fairbanks!
